Mail, storage and model connections
What healthy actually means, and why a test sends a real message.
MetaOpus talks to a mail server to send and receive, to storage to keep documents, and to a model for the assisted parts. Each of those is a connection you can see the state of.
Healthy is a record, not a guess
It means the last test succeeded — not that the configuration looks complete. A connection that has never been tested says so, rather than claiming health it has not earned.
A test does the real thing
Testing actually uses the connection: it sends through the mail server, writes and deletes an object in storage, asks the model a trivial question. Nothing is inferred from settings, because settings that look right and do not work are the whole problem.
Purpose and default
- A mail connection can send, receive, or both — an ingest mailbox and an outbound sender are different jobs and are chosen separately.
- The default is which connection is used when something needs one of that kind and does not name it.
Where your account has no connection of its own, it falls back to the platform's. If those fail, every customer without their own fails with them — which is why that failure is alarming twice over.
Frequently asked
Do we have to bring our own mail server?
No. There is a platform default. Bringing your own means your mail leaves from your domain, which is usually what a vendor expects to see.
Where are documents stored?
In cloud object storage. Files are kept as they were uploaded, so a resume you send a client is the one you were looking at rather than a reconstruction.
What does the model connection do?
The assisted parts: reading inbound mail, parsing resumes, drafting. Every one of those is shown with its reasoning and none of it sends anything on its own.
